SMIC to Begin 65-nm Chip Trail Production in Early 2007

Chinese SMIC recently claimed that it will start trial production on 65-nm chips beginning in January, 2007. While the company's 8-inch fab in Chengdu is scheduled to begin mass production in the second quarter of 2007, mass production of its 12-inch fab in Wuhan is expected to kick off in early 2008.
